2nd Regional Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Leadership Summit 2024

#InspireInclusion: Collaborating Towards Inclusive Climate Change Action

25-26 April 2024 | Acacia Hotel, Davao City, Philippines

The Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program – Philippines (AAAEP-P) is proud to host the second run of the Regional Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Leadership Summit.

This year’s Summit will not only revisit problems and challenges on inclusion and address cross-cutting issues, but will also start a dialogue on inclusive actions that will help respond and adapt to the effects of climate change and reduce the risks of natural disasters across the region.

Amidst climate crisis, particularly during disasters, the risks and vulnerabilities faced by women, persons with disability, indigenous communities and marginalised sectors increase; they are more vulnerable to the immediate and long-term effect of climate change. How can the region work together on collaborative solutions that will break barriers on access to information, services and decision making in relation to climate change adaptation? How can we ensure meaningful participation and engagement among all sectors at all levels from response to relief efforts?

In line with Australia’s International Development Policy, the Summit will strengthen its commitment to promote inclusion and equal opportunity, as well as provide a platform to tackle the pressing issues around climate change to ensure that preventive action or resilience measures are inclusive and responsive to all needs.

The Summit will focus on the theme #InspireInclusion: Collaborating Towards inclusive Climate Change Action.
